Hello. I am coming to you with a rare Monday email to make two announcements that have been brewing for a little while…

ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER ONE

We are moving! Just me, actually, although you are coming with me by default, I guess. The short version goes like this:

• Starting this week (I hope!), I am moving this newsletter from Substack to a service called Ghost, which I suspect a number of you have heard of

• The new homepage is here

• If I pushed all the right buttons, very little — hopefully nothing! — will change for any of you going forward, at least not in the way you receive emails and manage your subscriptions, other than the sender being “type click type” instead of my first and last name

• If anything does change or get screwy for you, please reach out by replying to this email and I’ll try to get everything sorted out ASAP

• If you’re not currently subscribed and you are reading this right now and thinking “hmm, I would like to subscribe to this blog,” please go do it at the link above, not here

This brings us to…

ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER TWO

The full Friday newsletter will be free for everyone this week, with no paywall after the opening section. Starting next week, though, the whole thing will be an exclusive for paid subscribers. (The Tuesday newsletter will remain free.) My reasoning is as follows:

• I have been putting more and more time into it as the subscriber base has grown

• I want to make you feel like you are getting something special for the money you spend, beyond just “the pleasure of giving Brian some money”

• One of my goals from the beginning here has been to create a fun little community online and I think having a little walled-off area to play in could be another good step in that process
